Better Left to Nostalgia
I loved this game when I was a kid. It was Sim City meets outer space. I used to rent it at our Hastings all the time and built city after city trying out new things. At the time it was a great unique game that had a presentation and design that other sim games lacked. Time hasn't been kind to Utopia. I finally got my own copy of the game here on Ebay. It came in the mail and I dusted off the SNES thinking I was going to jump in and make an alien paradise just like I used to. Well that didn't really happen. The interface hasn't aged well at all, and comes off more clunky than fun. The depth I remember isn't really there. It still has a lot of interesting mechanics like complete control over how much population you have in each building and how that affects the world. But really ... I loved this game when I was a kid.
