"With A Little Help From My Friends: The Making of Sgt. Pepper" from Beatles producer Sir George Martin (also published in the U.K. as "Summer Of Love,") is a surprisingly overlooked little gem of a book that takes as it's launching pad Martin's narrative description of what is perhaps the definitive Beatles recording, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Unlike more widely heralded Beatles biographies, this book has the unmistakable ring of authenticity that comes only from the first-hand recounting of an intimate insider. Who but Martin could have provided such a first person account? There is an oft-quoted witticism (sometimes ...
