  • Better than any flatbed albeit a lot slower. For quality and prints, I'll scan 35mm with the Minolta. For thumbs and online use; the Epson flatbed

This Minolta Dimage Scan Elite uses a SCSI connection. Most modern computers have no port for that so I had to order a used PCI card. It was also 110v (coming from Nth America) so I bought a small step down transformer (from 230v). As for the scans; they are MUCH better than my Epson flatbed scanner! A 35mm scan with the Minolta gives me a 16 bit 37MB file. My Epson scanner has a MUCH bigger scanning resolution according to specs but in reality it's TRUE resolution is about 1800ppi or about 15MB. The extra data pulled from the neg by the Minolta Dimage is easily noticeable.
