About this product

Product Information

Six CDs, 6 hrs. performance by Joe Mantegna Boston P.I. Spenser returns - heading west to the rich man's haven of Potshot, Arizona, a former mining town recently reborn as a paradise for Los Angeles millionaires looking for a place to escape the pressures of their high-flying lifestyles. When a band of modern-day mountain men, led by a charismatic individual known as The Preacher, takes over the town, even the local police are powerless to defend the residents in the face of the clever, dangerous gang. Spenser assembles a group of his own, including the redoubtable Hawk, to beat the gang at their own dangerous game and form the nucleus of a real police force to watch over the town when he's gone.

  • good company for a long road trip

As a long time lover of books on tape, it is always fun to hear one that is read well, understandable over the dull roar of my diesel engine and road noise, and with an element of pure entertainment. This book is not highbrow, the plot is rather unbelievable, but the characters are consistent and interesting. This book held my attention during a long drive, but it didn't detract from driving. On the other hand, my companion always quickly changed to the next CD---he was as engaged in the story as I was. If you want a light read, pure entertainement, in true Parker format, this book will do quite nicely.

  • Great

Really enjoy the Spenser novels. As a reader Joe Mantegna has to be one of the top at reading available.

  • Potshot by Robert B. Parker

This is typical Robert B. Parker: a mystery, big guys, big fights, colorful characters, and off-the-wall dialog. I enjoyed listening to it.
