Based on the popular arcade game of the previous year, NBA Jam is a two-on-two basketball game featuring all of the 27 NBA teams competing in 1994. Not only are the teams there, but so are many of the real players. You and up to three of your friends (with a 4-player adaptor) can be Olajuwon as the Rockets, Pippen as the Bulls, Ewing as the Knicks, Mourning as the Hornets, and so on (though some superstars, like Shaq and Jordan, are excluded for contractual reasons.<br><br>The players -- already extraordinary athletes in real life -- are given super-human abilities, depending on a their abilities in certain areas (dunking, shooting, etc.). A player can deliver spectacular dunks or sink many consecutive three-pointers if he has the stats for it. If a single player sinks three in a row, he's "on fire," and the other team must score a basket in order to cool him down. NBA Jam is your opportunity to play "fantasy basketball."

HE'S ON FIRE! The BEST basketball game of its time!
I used to go to the arcade everyday to play this game. I would pump quarter after quarter into the arcade machine just to play the 2nd half! Granted this was back when games were just a quarter to play, and Mortal Kombat 2 was in the cabinet right next to the NBA Jam machine, I just couldn't get enough of it. Famous lines such as "He's warming up" & "He's on fire!" will stick in your head throughout the rest of your gaming lives. I have never had so much fun playing basketball, whether it was against the computer or a real person. I practiced this game for a competition that Blockbuster had during the mid-90s, and I practically mastered it. This is a very fun game, and if you are looking for an inexpensive sports game for an older system, this is probably the best one you can pick up. ...
