About this product

Product Information

The Gunsmoke Chronicles: A New History of Television's Greatest Western by David R. Greenland is a detailed account of the long-running classic containing information not found in previous books about the series, including an excerpt from Dennis Weaver's Gunsmoke-era resume contributed by the late Mr. Weaver. In addition to a season-by-season chronology, there are nearly 100 photographs, updated biographies, an extensive episode guide (airdates, cast listings, writers, directors, notes of interest), three indexes and interviews with guest stars Morgan Woodward, Jeremy Slate and Peggy Rea. About the Author: David R. Greenland has been writing professionally for over 40 years and is the author of Bonanza: A Viewer's Guide to the TV Legend (foreword by creator/executive producer David Dortort) and Rawhide: A History of Television's Longest Cattle Drive (foreword by series regular Charles Gray), both published by BearManor Media.

    The Gunsmoke Chronicles

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift. The price was fair and I took advantage of the special deal that was offered to add in a DVD for myself. This book has everything there is to know about the series. He absolutely loves his gift!

  • Top critical review

Worthwhile for there person who loves the show.

This is one of those books that is so subject-specific Maddie Will be of interest only to those who truly love the show, but if you're one of those it's a must-have. There is a lot of detail, But nothing particularly interesting nothing juicy, Nothing exciting. The book certainly sanctifies the participants, and the author appears to be determined not to offend anyone. You would think that a showsthat ran for 20 years would have some pretty juicy stories to tell, but there aren't any. It's more of a fan tribute than anything else, but that doesn't make it bad;l it just makes it interesting to a very limited group.
