A visually stunning film but very slow and not very scary for a "horror" film. Good movie but expected more I guess. If you just watch the trailer, you will pretty much see all the good bits. Again a beautifully visual film but I couldn't watch it over and over for just that. Good movie to rent or stream but regret adding to my collection. This is just my personal opinion. Crimson Peak is a great movie. Some horror fans may find the story a little slow, but it is a very engaging ghost story. If you've like Del Toro's other movies you'll like this one too.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro made a masterpiece.
This is a romantic gothic horror that will no doubt become a classic. I was really looking forward to the release of this movie because del Toro was the director, and I wasn't disappointed. The setting was awesome and scary but not nearly as scary as the characters. del Toro spared no expense creating a spooky atmosphere of light and dark. There is mystery, hints of madness, and a strange love triangle that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a romantic gothic horror that will no doubt become a classic. This is a truly great movie. The visuals in this movie are spectacular and the costuming is amazing. I was surprised this film didn't get a bunch of awards for those things alone. The actors did a good job, too. The story was gothic and fairly predictable, but the actors did well making this ghost story believable.
