    Easy to read about the Spanish American War

    My grandfather was in the Phillipines fighting and also on a ship fighting so I wanted to read what he went thru. This is easy to read and understand. He also helped build the Panama Canal.

    The Spanish War by O'Toole

    This is a very well written book that describes the conditions and attitudes that drove two countries into a war that niether government really wanted. It reads almost like a novel but it is obvious extremly well researched and documented. The book is still relevant in our time as unseen forces push nations into conflicts. I enjoyed the book very much and came away from it with a very different attitude on the war that set the stage for "the American Century".

    Well written and researched account of Spanish-American War, spellbinding.

    An excellent account of the Spanish American War. Well written and organized so that it is easily read. I found very difficult to put down. This is a 5 star book.
