About this product

Product Information

From New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult, a powerful novel that explores the unbreakable bond between parent and child, and questions whether you can reinvent yourself in the course of a lifetime--or if your mistakes are carried forever. Fourteen-year-old Trixie Stone is in love for the first time. She's also a straight-A high school student, pretty and popular, and the light of her father's life.... Comic book artist Daniel Stone would do anything to protect his daughter. But when a single act of violence shatters her innocence, seemingly mild-mannered Daniel's convictions are put to the test--while his own shockingly tumultuous past, hidden even from his family, comes to light. Now, everything Trixie's ever believed about her hero, her father, seems to be a lie as Daniel ventures to hell and back, seeking revenge. Will the price be the bond they share? Revealing an "exceptional, unflinching, and utterly chilling" ( The Washington Post ) portrait of today's youth culture, Jodi Picoult pulls readers inside a shattered family facing the toughest questions of morality and forgiveness.

  • The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult

Picoult's greatest strength is her ability to glean insights about human behavior and the darkest, most hidden parts of people...and then bring them to light. In that regard, she doesn't disappoint this time around. I was intrigued by each character, from Daniel, a man who spent a great deal of his life in Alaska and had a dark, troubled past...to his wife, Laura, a woman who'd been drawn to the rebel spirit in Daniel and then grew disappointed when he became more conventional. While I always finish Picoult's books (for, even at her worst, she is very, very good in fleshing out characters and gleaning insights about human behavior) I was hoping that she'd create a tale that seemed believable in both tone and plot. This one did not. Still, she gets kudos for taking risks, for combining ...

  • Geonm

An excellent read. As with all her books, Jodi Picoult takes a tough subject and goes right to the heart of it. In the Tenth Circle she deals with a teenage girl's first love & all the emotions that go along with it. She then takes it a step further & dives into date rape & the consequences from the perspectives of everyone involeved. I love her books because they deal with things in a realitsic manner. She helps you to view things from different points of view, which often give you a better understanding & different outlook on how things happen & how it affrcts the lives of all involved. I have yet to pick up one of her books that did not give me an excellent read!

  • A good read of an unknown culture

I have enjoyed Jodi Picoult's writings and this is another that I will add to that list. She writes descriptive stories, but I keep hoping she will write one that is not so terribly sad. She takes world problems and makes them personal and I enjoy her characters. This story tells of customs of a culture that I did not know about and I enjoyed reading and learning. Keep telling stories!

  • What was Jodi thinking??

As a huge Jodi fan, and having read almost all of her books, I have no idea what happened with this one. It's WAY out there. It jumps all over the place, having somewhat something to do with the daughter and how her life is, but the dark, strange drawings and cartoons the father is into is just too much. I find this way off the beaten path for Jodi, and it's not in the same string line of books that she normally writes. I had to struggle to get to the end and was very disappointed in this one. Hard to read, all over the place, and books goes nowhere fast. 3 stars.
