  • learn to make finger weavings like the ancestors did.

I got 2 of these books. I sent them to my older grandsons. they had shown an intrest in learning this skill the ancestors used for clothing at contact. you can find finger weaving instructions on line but it's not as focused on the different patterns and the books has color pictures. the only thing I would have included, would be the advise to do test,or practice weavings. with fewer, larger, shorter yarn threads, it's easier to handle, and makes learning less difficult. the fastest way to learn, is to make it fun and successful.

  • More color, please!

the author assumes a basic familiarity with loom weaving and terms which are confusing to a beginner. also devotes a significant portion of the book to peruvian weaving (perhaps the author's favorite?) and skims by eastern native american designs, which i found disappointing. more how to portions with more specific how to directions would have been helpful--the diagrams are confusing to someone who is just getting started with this art form. the designs are beautiful, just wish more had been in color which the book cover seemed to imply...

  • Nice little how-to book

This small book has good diagrams and easy to follow directions. It gave even this absolute beginner the ability to create simple, attractive woven/braided bands within a couple of hours. It's an enjoyable starting point that left me wanting more. Infact, I hope they update and expand it someday.

  • A new experience in an ancient way of weaving !

I was amazed at this kind of weaving where first all threads are warps, then one becomes a weft, and by the time you have woven across, it becomes a warp again ! For people who enjoy band-weaving such as Inkle, rigid heddle or card-weaving, you will find this way of weaving bands only uses yarn, a short dowel and a safety pin ! The least amount of equipment I have ever used to weave something! Economical and beautiful. I highly recommend this book !
