  • The title fits the intent of the contents well.

I was surprised how practical the recipes are, yet provide a gourmet flair. The ingredients are not all necessarily available in my home garden, but for the most part they are or I can substitute with something I am growing. There is a large variety of recipes for the home cook, a nice blend of the old and new and its not just recipes for dinner or brunch, but include preserving foods as well.

  • Hard to put down!

I loved this unique and down-to-earth narrative from Mr. Lagasse. He writes with insight that is relevant to a home cook. His recipes remind me of my grandmother's. This is a must-have in a cook's library.
