    A Land Remembered by Patrick Smith

    A friend wanted me to read this book. He told me it was the best book he has ever read and wanted me to just read the first 100 pages to see if I liked it. I couldn't put it down. It is a different read for me and it was very good.

    It reads more like and adventure story than a historical novel.

    For anybody interested in the reconstruction period of Florida history, this book reads like a timeline from the 1860's through the 1960's. It is well written and makes compelling reading. The characters are lifelike and easy to empathize with. Life was tough on the Florida plains.

    While this book is the fictional history of a few family's. It is actually nearly completely based on factual info about settlers to Florida and how the lived. I didnt know this until after I read the book the first time, but now it is even more so a compelling read !!
