I have used the 1-2-3 Magic system for approximately 16 and 1/2 years, on four children- one being EXTREMELY SPIRITED and "difficult". If you follow the program accurately, and give it time to work(it took my one particular child 30 long days before I had success), you can achieve long-term results and hassle-free discipline! Excellent parenting tool
I counseled parents who had been accused of child abuse by the state. I taught parenting skills and helped them to understand the key to all abuse which is that as long as abuse is seen as normal (most abusers came from abusive situations), the abuse will continue. I helped them to recognize that abuse is not healthy behavior. Once that was understood on a deep level, new behavior could be learned breaking the cycle of abuse. I used 1 2 3 Magic every week. It helps parents set limits well before they are emotionally out of control themselves. I'm dealing with a single mother right now who loves her son deeply but has no authority over him. Excellent teachings with visual examples
It gives positive parenting skills. It shows visual examples for in the home as well as outside the home for dicipline. They also make a second cd with this one called "More 1,2,3 magic" that gives the positive reinforcement teachings. Together this set really works.

1-2-3 Magic Video is a must have
This video is a must have if you have children that don't respond well to your style of discipline. My husband and I both watched it, it is about 2 hours long, and it works. I plan to purchase the next video called More 1-2-3 Magic. The first focuses on getting children to stop bad behavior. The second focuses on getting them to do what you desire. If I was to change anything about it, I would have a parents version and a teacher version, just to speed the video along faster. But Dr.Phelan incorporates humor and great information making this an easy watch.This video is a must have if you have children that don't respond well to your style of discipline.
