Does the job although it feels a bit cheap and flimsy. I thought it would be a bit beefier, but it’s thin plastic. It also won’t go up against the hammer on my Henry Golden Boy all the way. It’s better than nothing but could be better.

    Fits some brands, not others

    This fits and works well on my Henry rifle... but not on my Rossi, it's way too far back... it doesn't stop the hammer from being cocked by thumb. Sure, you can't rack the lever with it on, but it won't prevent dry fires. Long story short, buy it for a Henry, don't buy it for a Rossi. Rossi is said to be modeled after a Winchester 1892, so I'd guess it won't fit those well either. Sorry, I can't speak to a Marlin or any other brands of lever guns but I have seen that Cabelas uses these same locks on their lever guns on display (even though they don't sell this type of lock, so that should tell you it's good enough if it meets a big box store's needs for locks on display)

    Doesn't meet requirements for California.

    I should have researched this more carefully, as it was a dumb purchase. This does not meet California gun storage requirements, and for good reason. A few points: 1. Made mostly of plastic. I could remove this in 30sec without special tools. 2. No lock. It's just a bolt with a keyed head. 3. Easily opened without destroying it using needle-nose pliers or a pair of screwdrivers. This might deter someone from trying, as it looks like a trigger/hammer lock, but can easily be circumvented by anyone who tries. For the price I paid, they aren't worth returning. Buy proper cable locks or a safe for your lever gun.

    Great lever action lock

    The lock is robust and properly locks your lever action. The only thing to be desired is a bigger key (for those among us with large hands). The key works as a screw driver and since the one in the package is really tiny, I fabricated my own from the delivered key and an old screwdriver. Now works like a charm. If you have a lever action, get this lock !

    Cheap but somewhat effective

    This is a cheap plastic hammer lock. It fit fine and seems to do what is intended. It is plastic, so a determined person could pry it off. Also, it comes with a "key" which isn't a key but a special screwdriver with 2 pins that fit the special bolt holding the unit together. The screwdriver is about the size of a dime, and is difficult to handle. It takes many turns to unscrew the "lock", which is just a bolt. I would not want to unlock this in an emergency. It might be fine for back up guns if you have a lot of them in a safe.

    Meets my needs.

    If your objective is, like mine, to prevent little fingers from chambering and firing a round, this is a satisfactory and inexpensive option. The security method, however, can be readily bypassed by anyone who understands how to fabricate a small, simple spanner wrench, so if you need a more advanced locking mechanism, this is not the way to go.
