Until his children were kidnapped by Captain Hook and taken to Pirate Town, loving father and respected attorney Peter Banning never considered going back to Neverland. As a matter of fact, he couldn't even remember having been there in the first place. After it was discovered that the children were missing, Granny Wendy reminded Banning of his past -- running and jumping with the Lost Boys in the wild Neverland forest and swimming under the waterfalls of the blue lagoon. In those days he was known as Peter Pan. Vowing to return his children to safety, Peter Banning went to Neverland and once again assumed the role of Peter Pan. You must guide him through many hazards (such as pointy treetops and swarming bees) as he battles arrow-shooting pirates, balloon pirates, ugly sea dogs, poisonous snakes, magic tigers and other dangerous foes. Early in the game you must duel your old rival Rufio in order to retrieve the Golden Sword, a powerful weapon that can shoot star balls. After you get the sword, you will lose it every time you get hit, but it will pop up again and again throughout the game. Your standard weapon when you don't have the sword is a simple dagger. Hook's eleven levels of play will take you to forests, mountains, icy regions, a pirate ship and other locations on and around Neverland. To make your journey less hazardous, you can pick items (such as apples, cherries and leaves) that boost your energy and enable you to take more hits. You can earn extra points by finding hidden tiaras, rings, necklaces and crowns. To refill your Fly Meter you must find Tinkerbell and stand underneath her Pixie Dust rain. Once powdered, you'll be able to fly again. Near the end of the game you must engage Captain Hook in a sword fight. If you can't defeat Hook, your kids will remain enslaved on Hook's pirate ship.

Fun Nostalgia
Hook is my favorite film of all time. I remember playing this game over and over with my dad. Of course, the only time he beat hook was while I was at school. I've purchased this game twice for sega and for my SNES. There's no difference between the different console versions. There's no saving which is a bummer and the levels hardly follow the film but the game play is fun, the music is good and you can fly (which, admittedly sold me the most when I was younger). The game is a simple side scroller. It's one player. The graphics are good for the time, the music is fun and all your favorite characters are in it. Honestly, I'm probably a bit biased. If you are questioning this purchase go find a video play through of it and see for yourself. I'd compare it to the Lion King or Aladdin for ... Hook is my favorite film of all time. I blieve this is one of the funnest games for the Sega. The adventure is great! If you like the movie or not, you will like the game!
