  • Good, But By Far A Different Side of Chris Cornell

The songs on this album showcase what I would call a 180 of what Soundgarden or Audioslave fans are used to. I am glad Cornell decided to show us a different side, or facet, to his music. However, I must admit, this one is a bit of a downer; not that it is disappointing necessarily, because again, I appreciate his diversity lyrically and musically. I think if I were feeling particularly down and anti-world, I would have this on the stereo and revel in my blue funk. Then I would pull out Badmotorfinger and get myself out of that pit.

  • This is what a great artist can do with total freedom.

I've been a fan of Chris Cornell since I first heard Soundgarden in the early 90's, this continued through his time with Audioslave and his first two solo albums. Listen to his lyrics carefully - if you haven't already - there's a lot going on there, he's never just made rhymes to fit the melodies. This album is closest to his work in Audioslave. Carry On showcases his songs and vocals more than his previous work, it's not so much of a guitar driven record. If you can go see him live DO IT, it's a fantastic show. You might not think Soundgarden songs performed with only an acoustic guitar and vocals would work but it's an amazing portion of his show. If you like the later Soundgarden - particularly Superunknown - or the Audioslave CDs then Carry On might be for you. Buy It!

  • "You Know My Name" a great finale for Chris Cornell's "Carry On"

What drew me to this CD was actually the last track "You Know My Name" from Casino Royale. I heard it and loved it already, so I wanted to try more music from the same artist. The album is very original, both the lyrics and music. Every track is unique. If you play through it and get to "You Know My Name" the finale becomes unexpected and more appreciated.

  • Diverse and amazing album!

This is a really great album with songs that get inside your head and stay with you. His voice is amazing, I can't get enough of it. Highly recommended, especially if you want to hear him doing something a little bit different, but with a style that is still distinctly Cornell. There's a little something for everyone here. His sound is ever-evolving, it doesn't have to fit into a certain box. That's what is so exciting about this album to me. I love Ghosts for the optimistic and happy feeling it gives me. I haven't quite had that reaction to a Cornell song before. Disappearing Act has more of the familiar melancholy feeling and is really beautiful. Poison Eye has a lot of great energy. I really love this album.

  • Cornell delivers again!!

I've been listening to this album now for a couple of weeks, and I find the diversity quite refreshing. The fact that Cornell offers such variety in terms of his history is amazing. I can listen to the heavy "grunge" sounds of early Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog, or the more mellow sounds of his first solo effort 'Euphoria Morning' and now 'Carry On'. I have been pleasantly surprised to find that something new catches my attention each time I listen to this CD, and I can already tell that it is one of those albums that I will not tire of quickly. Cornell and his rock-god voice deliver again! I highly recommend this album!
