  • The Rebels

The Rebels by John Jakes is the 2nd Volume of the Kent Family Chronicles. It is a Revolutionary War era book that starts off at the begininning of the war and takes you through the major events of the war as the fictional character Philip Kent experiences them. This book also introduces several new characters in the series, one of which Philip's son Abraham, who is the center of the 3rd Volume. Several others are southerns in America and help tie to Philips future wife and the mother of Philips second son. All in all this novel is a great history story as well as the story of an underdog starting to turn things around. I highly recommend you read The Bastard by John Jakes before you read this book, however, if you do read that you will definately want to read this as well! Highly ...

  • Pretty much what it says. The folks that rebelled against George the Third.

This series, the Bicentennial Series, suck you right in, and holds your attention, while it educates you about the American Revolution, Westward Expansion, The Civil War, and then The Industrial Revolution. Jakes has done a great job with this series.
