Para el control de oidio, trips y pulgones en cultivos de rosas, se realizo un estudio tipo "screening" probando 16 especies vegetales distintas con tres metodologias de preparacion de extracto cada una, y un extracto de ajo realizado con la metodologia de Henry Doubleday Research Association (2000) y corregida por Velastegui, 2009. Las 16 especies vegetales distintas fueron: penco (Agave americana), ajo (Allium sativum), sabila (Aloe vera), marco (Ambrosia peruviana), eneldo (Anethum graveolens), chilca (Baccharis sp.), borraja (Borrago officinalis L), nabo (Brassica napus), eucalipto (Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn), cola de caballo (Equisetum arvense), manzanilla (Matricaria chamomila), hierbabuena (Mentha sativa), menta (Mentha rotundifolia), guarango (Prosopis pallida), hierba mora (Solanum nigrum L.) y ortiga (Urtica dioica). Con excepcion del ajo, cada una de las plantas fueron sometidas a tres metodologias para la realizacion de los extractos: maceracion, decoccion e infusion.
