I was given a copy of this novel by my sister and am most grateful to her for receiving it. Anne Rice is a most outstanding author, the book is fantastic. She gets one actively involved and makes one feel that they are right there experiencing the same things right along with the characters and really draws one in, to the point that you are totaly immersed with all surroundings and what is happening. The amount of historical background research that has gone into the preparation to the writing of this great novel far surpassed anything I expected. I most highly recomend this novel for it will give all an entirely new way to critically look at the young life of Christ, epically by showing in detail what all the characters have gone through and cannot but help to stimulate ones brain to ... Some of Anne Rice's most beautific writing! Genius!
I love love these books! Anne Rice is my favorite writer and with the exquisite detail in which she writes, you are entered into the story as if you are witnessing the entire story. You feel as if you are the trusted friend of Jesus and his family and you are transported to that time and are experiencing everything the characters are. Anne Rice creates a world in this story which provides easy understanding of the time and what it is like living under the Roman Empire. The author creates easy understanding of the traditions, hierarchy, and the role of the Jews as well as the Priests and the different rulers and who they take orders from.The most amazing thing is that Anne Rice sets an understanding of the barbarity of the time and actually allows you to feel how torn Pilot is with his ... I love love these books! Anne Rice is my favorite writer and with the exquisite detail in which she writes, you are entered into the story as if you are witnessing the entire story. Anne Rice is a wonderful writer, who lost her faith in college, wrote many books about vampires, and found her faith again following the death of her husband of many years. Since then she is devoting her life to novels, imaginings if you will, about the early hidden life of Jesus. The first installment: "Out of Egypt" is told from the perspective of Jesus recalling when he was seven years old with his family in Alexandria and just beginning to understand. The first line of the novel: "I was seven. What do you know when you are seven?" The story follows the family's return journey to Nazareth in Galilee after Joseph's dream that King Herod is dead and it is safe to return home. It is an amazing story. In an author's note following the story Rice outlines he personal journey and her ... Reading something she has written is pure joy - not just for the story but for the absolutely flawless artistry of her writing. This particular novel happens to be a fascinating story about a subject that is extremely compelling. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to read, and anyone who is interested in learning more about the time of Christ.
