    This thing is a beast!

    This UHD BD player is built like the DVD players of old. None of that cheap, flimsy, light-weight plastic housing here. It's very heavy, sturdy, and smooth. The playback features are excellent. I'm not a huge fan of Sony "apps". I currently have a Sony TV as well as soundbar, so install was seamless and the TV recognized the new device instantly and cooperated with the controllers. If you're thinking this will replace your Roku, it won't. But if you want to watch maybe Netflix, Amazon and some discs in UHD with HDR, this is a GREAT player for a great price.

    Reliable, solid product

    Drive has worked well so far. Firmware upgrade directly off the internet keeps failing for some reason (although internet connectivity otherwise is fine), so had to upgrade via USB drive. That was smooth. Did not come with a remote, but easy to work around that with a Logitech Harmony remote. Have not had a reason to try out the apps.

    Works well but doesnt like long HDMI

    I purchased this unit based on reviews and price. At first it worked fine when I connected for the first hour. After that it came up with a firmware update message so I ran the update. After the update finished it rebooted and then I got a black screen. At first I thought the update failed or was still processing so I waited an hour or so. Eventually it turned off or I reset it. After that still no image so I took it to another TV and plugged it straight in, worked fine. Went back to theater, no joy. Eventually after troubleshooting and reading other forums I found it did not like the long HDMI to my receiver after the FW update. For now I moved it to the rack with my gear instead of living room cabinet. Eventually I hope another update will fix the issue because my PS3 still works fine ...

    No different than a ubp-x800 except you get a free cable!

    It's rather heavy and well built. I have a smart tv and don't use the apps so I can't speak on these as I use my lg to stream directly. I bought this for watching 4k blu-rays, regular blu-rays, and dvds. it upscales the non-native 4k discs very well and that is the real reason I purchased this model.

    Nice sleek design.

    Simple to use. Newer HDMI interface makes this DVD player simple to use. As soon as you turn it on and insert the DVD the TV switches over to the player. No need to manually switch inputs on the TV.
