Neat but dated
This CD-ROM was put out by Queensryche with the Promised Land album. The album itself is another masterpiece by a brilliant band and the little mini-documentary (made by Chris DeGarmo's brother Mark) of the albums creation and the band dynamic is choice. However the 2-disk CD-ROM is very dated considering the great strides digital media has taken since it's release in 1996. Requiring Quicktime (an older version) which was included in the disks' set-up but is so outdated that most computers will not recognize the software (at least in my experience.) the game is interesting though, a kind of MYST-esque feel with interesting idea's behind it. Each member of the band--Geoff Tate, Chris DeGarmo, Michael Wilton, Edbass Jackson and Scott Rockenfield--has their own little cyber world to explore. ... For it's age, it is very pretty and cool to play with. At times though, I began to feel this was a little too self-absorbed for my liking, but regardless it is an interesting and fun way to spend an afternoon. In all, it was probably the cutting edge in 96, but falls a little short in 2008. I enjoyed it nonetheless, being a Queensryche fan for near 20 years. I'd recommend it just for the kicks and thrill of watching brilliance in action.
