    Worth every penny

    I studied 2D animation and have been looking for this film for a long time! Very happy to have it! You can tell it was the first feature film made by people who make 20 - 30 min shorts, with no feature experience. It's just under 80 min but felt like a half hour. Very beautiful animation, nothing else like it. First of it's kind and I love it!

    Where Has All The Big Hair Gone..?

    Having been a product of the 60s and gaining some sort of 'clue' in the 80s, one thing can be said for that decade's films- WOW! BladeRunner proved that film noir and trenchcoats were still stylish... Raiders of the Lost Ark proved that action/adventure and Fedoras can still hold their weight... Rock-n-Rule proved that not "everything" had been done with animation and it wasn't dead yet. Perhaps more obscure than the fan following of the film would like it to be- it is a spirited blend of [then] old and new techniques involving plays with light, shadow, character interaction and more adult themes without going the Fritz the Cat level of gratuity.     Nelvana collectors will want this edition

    Those who enjoyed Nelvana Animation's productions looked forward to Rock and Rule, which had a lot going for it--catchy music, mature (though not risque) themes, rock 'n' roll sci-fi. Poor publicity pushed it into obscurity even when it was released, but it's still fun. The character of Mok deserves to be an even bigger cultural reference. This two-disc edition is the one collectors will want; it includes the short The Devil and Daniel Mouse, has concept art, and has a cut of the film involving a different voice actor for Omar (I prefer the one in the released cut, but it's nice to have for completeness and curiosity).

    Finally I found it!

    I have always wanted a copy of Rock and Rule ever since I saw it years ago on HBO. It was so unlike any thing I had seen that I wanted a REAL copy so I purchased a VHS copy that turned out to be a bad copy from HBO. I had followed it on the web but was unable to find a REAL version. Now with DVD, I came across this and was praying this was for real. When I got it in the mail I couldn't believe the quality and all of the extras that are in this 2 DVD set. The 5.1 digital sound is fantastic and when I played it through my HD DVD player the upscaling on my high def TV was just to die for. I could not be happier with this purchase and to all those looking for a TRUE copy of Rock and Rule, this is it. A BIG thanks from a real fan of this form of animated art.
