El's Tribute To A Soul Legend
El DeBarge's In The Storm album is a good piece of work that was inspired by soul legend Marvin Gaye. On the album, El uses the same methods that Marvin had in his prime, but has added his own signature touches to it which makes it sound even more remarkable. The best songs on this album are: Another Chance, Love Me Tonight, You Know What I Like, You To Turn Me On, remake of the Marvin Gaye classic, "After The Dance", and the soothing gospel plea for the world, "In The Storm." There are areas where the album fails to deliver which is primarily those of uptempo grooves. The ballads on this album make up for it and are killer and are the fuel that propels this album from the road of dissapointment to the road of achievement. Love this CD, I just let it repeat itself in one car and in the other car I play a different El DeBarge CD. Love those DeBarges...not fair so much talented DNA in one family. I loved this one so much, I ended up with two of this CD.
