"Carter offers an unusual combination: a man of faith and a man of power...By adding his own voice to the discussion, Carter reminds us of a time when religion was tied to such virtues as humility and such practices as soul-searching...he is undoubtedly one of our finest human beings." -- Alan Wolfe, The Washington Post Book World, "...Carter's overarching decency, his care for the human condition and the health of planet Earth shines through." -- Kirkus, "Carter speaks eloquently of how his own faith has shaped his moral vision...makes resonant connections between religion and political activism..." -- Publishers Weekly, ..."Carter's overarching decency, his care for the human condition and the health of planet Earth shines through." -- "Kirkus", "...Carter's overarching decency, his care for the human condition and the health of planet Earth shines through." --Kirkus, "This is a book of reason and tolerance but also of indignation. The former President draws on his religious faith to comment wisely on a wide range of 'hot button' issues. Although Carter's tone is patient and explanatory, his views are bound to be newsworthy and should rekindle some old fires...an eloquent personal testament that deserves a wide readership, regardless of political affiliation. Highly recommended." -- "Library Journal", "This is a book of reason and tolerance but also of indignation. • Honest and Wise

Jimmy Carter has shown how the US has lost perspective with regard to the roots of this nation and has instead drifted towards intolerance, greedy individualism and isolationist solutions. There is much wisdom in this book to assist the newly elected Democrats and moderate Republicans in formulating a new bi-partisan approach that represents the common good rather then greed and aggression. There was a time when Goldwater Republicans and Kennedy Democrats worked together. Perhaps this book can be a guide to again achieving statesmanship.

  • Motivating and well written

Mr. Carter’s book is deep analyzes of the moral and ethical codes of the USA. This book mirrors the knowledge of Mr. Carter of the moral conflicts of our country. He accomplishes altitude that no other former President has reached. He is intelligent to poise his political thoughts with a clever storybook style that reflects his Southern milieu. The book is educational, consistently inspiring, and motivating. I recommend his book to anyone.

  • Books by President Jimmy Carter

I purchased this item because I collect the signatures of Nobel Peace Prize winners, and Jimmy Carter is one of my personal heroes. I was very pleased to see a personally autographed volume of his available, and was pleased to have placed the winning bid so I could add it to my collection. What I liked most was that he signed it with his full Jimmy Carter signature and not the abbreviated J. Carter with which he normally signs books.

  • Our Endangered Values

I have read almost everything Jimmy Carter has written. He has an great understanding of people and the world we live in. It would be a wonderful thing if this book were studied in school as required reading. His insight is amazing and his writing style is excellent.
