      El Cid movie

      Sophia and Charle, the king and princess, princes along with Michael Holden and Raf Vallone were superb. Then the battles filmed excellently. Your copy with the love scenes were very good. I was so excited I bought a program or as you movie guide. Now I looking forward to purchasing original music score and another copy of the film for my pastor for the members of the church during the lenten season. All cultures should share Christian unity. We are all one in mind, body, soul and divinity in God. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share my opinion and express it to my brothers and sisters. You see my brother and I went to film when we're teens at the ages of 16 and 18 and we are still faithful to its meaning "oblation love one and another as I love you." ...

      Epic only in size.

      The reputation for this film as a “thoughtful” Epic is not well deserved. It IS an Epic but it is mind-bendingly dull. No chemistry between Heston and Loren and it was no surprise to discover in the supplements that they did not get along at all. Anthony Mann, the director, does everything possible to keep the film moving and the screen filled with Robert Fraker’s great images, but the stumbling block is the script. As usual with Epics, there is an intermission and the movie truly ends at that point. Act 2 is laughable and a waste of time. This is an example of what gave Epics a bad rep.

      Classic epic that hits on all cylinders

      This is a classic Charlton Heston epic featuring Sophia Loren and directed by Anthony Mann. It is filmed on location in Spain with a cast of thousands. The film is carried by the acting, script and live action scenes and stays interesting throughout. Downside is that it is very hard to find prints online, maybe because of political correctness, and this DVD was a little old (2008) and had some graininess and occasional lines. Amazingly, the film is split into two DVDS at the intermission point. It would be great if a new blu-ray print could be made of this early 60's masterpiece. It is one of my top 10 movies and very glad to have a copy of it. The extras and "making of" documentaries are a definite plus as well. It arrived sooner than expected and was well packaged.

      One of the great epic classics of all time! Cast of thousands when CGI was unheard of. One of the best Medieval epic films ever made.

      Historic, beautifully shot and great sound track

      The quality of the movie was excellent as while as the sound. A great epic movie of it`s time. I remember seeing this in the theater with my father when it first came out.
