    Great product!

This is the best distortion pedal I have owned. It's got the greatest sound. I just wish the seller wasn't underhanded and was honest about the problems it had being second hand. Never the less it is working. Don't be cheap and buy second hand. You are going to want to buy this product Brand New because it is the best for Heavy Metal. But it you can dial down the Gain to produce different types of distortion / fuzz to play Rock or Jazz. But remember it's called Metal Muff for a reason! The boost switch is also great to alter your sound so that you can melt the faces of the crowd you are playing to. You can scoop and focus your mids to stand out from the rhythm guitartist with your solos or as rhythm guitarist focus the mids for extra warmth during choruses. Yes even bass can use this as ...

  • Really good heavy distortion pedal

This pedal has two knobs and a three-way switch. No matter what position the scoop switch is in, it is easy to get good sounds out of this pedal. There is plenty of distortion with the knob at 12 o'clock. Crank the distortion up to 5 o'clock with the scoop switch on Hi, good night nurse this thing is raging. I find I have to spend a good amount of time dialing in a lot of pedals to get the sound I'm looking for. This thing provides great, straight forward metal distortion right out of the box. Used on eBay these things are inexpensive, but at $55 brand new that is a nice price also. I highly recommend this pedal.

  • Interesting...

At some point somebody decided that metal distortion was very bright, which is very different than it was early on (think Black Sabbath 4) when Marshall stacks ruled that world and metal meant lots of rumble. I have half a dozen dirt pedals designated as 'metal' and to my ear they are all too bright but that's a matter of opinion, that said, this is the best of that group. Plenty of gain, everything works as it should with no internal noise, etc. The boost function can really put the upper mids out front... My usual complaint applies to the jacks being on the sides which means you can't put other pedals as close as possible...

  • HUGE TONE, great price!!! EHX is THE WAY to go!!! (Even made in USA)!!!

Okay, so I've been a guitar player 30 plus years. I first started using the EHX Metal Muff with Top Boost over 7-8 years ago in front of a JCM 900 so I get the extra distortion of the pedal plus the very little bit of breakup from the amp's preamp tubes. WHAT did I discover? That with JUST the Metal Muff on through my clean channel I had a better tone than trying to use the amp's and the pedal's breakup simultaneously. What should also be said is that I've tried distortion pedals that are 3 times the price. NONE have been as good as the Metal Muff. Shredding tone, but true "guitar tone" is NOT lost!!!! In a bind, I've even had to plug straight in to the PA (broken tube amp) and was able to use the metal muff for my sound - IT WORKED!!!! This is actually my 2nd Metal Muff with Top ...

  • Electro Harmonix Metal Muff

Awesome metal distortion pedal! The best I've tried yet. For me, It's better than the boss metal zone. It has a more natural feel, though you can say it's softer than the metal zone. The metal zone just pulverizes. The metal muff is tighter in the low end and hits softer. But it has more features. The top boost is great for cutting through a loud audience full of screaming fans. It has lots of gain yet low noise. I could barely hear any hiss or hum with the gain past 3 quarters. Plus, the pedal looks cool and has a rugged construction.
