  • 'A' for effort

When I heard about X Factor coming out I was actually kind of excited that Maiden would be producing an album without Bruce Dickinson on vocals. Yes, I am a Dickinson fan, but I don't think a band should be held hostage simply because one member is unavailable, and let's face it, Iron Maiden is Steve Harris' baby, and Bruce only came to Maiden on the 3rd album. And I liked that Maiden chose someone who wasn't a Bruce clone as Judas Priest did with Ripper Owens replacing Rob Halford. Maiden chose someone who was almost the polar opposite of Bruce, with Blaze Bayley. Musically, X Factor is pure Maiden. The guitar riffs, the heavy bass lines sometimes taking over meloday, the pounding drum work, all sounds familiar. Lyrically...well Blaze just doesn't have the chops to front Maiden. His vocal ...

  • The X Factor - Blaze is a Blunder

This Iron Maiden album is not that good. Bruce was replaced by Blaze. Blaze is not even close to sounding like Bruce. If you are an Iron Maiden fan you will be very disappointed with this album. If this is going to be your first Maiden album, get one of their older albums. Piece Of Mind is a great album to start out with or even Killers. Over all Blaze has a voice that sounds a lot like Glen Danzig. A gravely voice is not what Iron Maiden needs! The rest of the band was not to their usual standards. I think Iron Maiden was trying to be a band that they were not.

  • a great suprise

I was nervous about this iron maiden without dickenson, but what a great sound! the songs are a little slower, but they are just awesome. my favorite is the lord of the flies. if you give this album a real chance you will like it. there are still great riffs, the drums blow me away, and my son is still singing fortunes of war. thank you iron maiden.
