Rock 'n' Ball is seven pinball games in one. In addition to the standard Pinball contest which is similar to what you can find in the arcades, there are two versions of sports pinball: Soccer and Hockey. In these two sporting events, you control one flipper and a goalie and so does your opponent, who operates from the opposite end of the field or ice rink. The object is to get the ball into the other player's net. <br><br>In Nineball you place a bet using chips. Your goal is to arrange the pinballs in Bingo type formations. Doing so will win you extra chips. Lastly, there are three versions of Battle Flipper: Bomber, Thunder, and Attack. In the Battle Flipper games you compete against an opponent while trying to hit targets and knock the pinball into the opposing player's pockets. You control one set of flippers while the computer or a friend controls the other. Your flippers are positioned on the opposite side of the play field as those of your competitor.

Overlooked NES Gem! Fun, Cute and Joyful! Also....
extremely competitive. There's nothing else like this one on the NES. Yes, it's a pinball game, but, there's SO much more! There are many varieties of play- it almost reminds me of Video Olympics on the Atari 2600, in the variety on a similar theme. The game really shines in 2 players- the "sports" category rules. There are Hockey and Soccer, kind of... air-hockey ish, or arcade fun, head-to-head. It's VERY fun to play with a girlfriend or whomever you wish to allow into your nerd world. The pinball table is great, with bizarre bonuses and great feel/physics. Definitely like a real pinball game! There are also two other modes... this strange gambling pachinko kind of thing with I still have to figure out, then this hardcore combat head-to-head section, with moveable ... extremely competitive. There's nothing else like this one on the NES. Yes, it's a pinball game, but, there's SO much more! I'm sorry, but this game is a bit of a stinker. I own about a half dozen pinball games for the N.E.S. and this is without a doubt, the worst. You could have more fun with a marble and a coathanger. It's not designed to play like a real pinball machine, except for the two paddles at the bottom of the screen that seem to be too far apart. If you are a collector and don't have this game yet, fine, Buy the cheapest one you can find, but, don't play it unless you like things that stink. P.U.I'm sorry, but this game is a bit of a stinker. 1980's Rock N Roll with Pinball.....Who would have thought of that! Great job Nintendo, The gameplay is easy and very repetitive. The Rock music is analog style. Not real 80's rock. Thats the only dissapointment. Fun for a few hours then you get board.
