  • Perfect title, reader wants to know what it's all about

I actually lost a few friends and family this past year and seeing the title, my interest was peeked into an adventure. I loved the concept of the traveling funeral. It had great insights into the feelings and acceptance that one goes through when greiving. I loved the feeling of friendship through a sisterhood that came together because of Annie. I was reminded that each person can have a positive (or negative) influence on others by the way they live. People are always watching you. I loved the plot of the story but was hugely disappointed in the unnessasary language and to much reference to homosexuality and the worldlyness of every occasion drinking alchohol. I will not be recommending this book to co-readers.

  • Finding Yourself through Loss

I had read in our local newspaper, a review of this book which was written by a local gal. The clips she wrote about instantly had me hooked on the story and I came home, logged into eBay and found the book! It has been a great book and one of the best ones that I have read in a long time. It has made me laugh, cry, nod my head in agreement all in one paragraph. The author has hit home with myself on so many situations as I recall my childhood life and dreams and growing up with all the woes and troubles of being a teen. Last year celebrating our 50th birthday year, three of my girlfriends and I gathered together and we did, in sorts, a mini traveling celebration of our lives. We did and went places we always wanted to in our teens and we finally made time in our lives to spend four ...

  • Spreading Ashes With Girl Friends

Kris Radish has a knack for writing girl-bonding tales. Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral was the second Radish book selected by my book club to read. In this novel, middle-aged girls bond during a cross-country memorial and burial of a dear friend. This book and Radish's Elegant Gathering of White Snows have "get-aways" for all kinds of reasons--impending death, impending abortion, coming out of the closet--you name it, but there's always a reason to hit the road with friends in her books. Radish has a pleasant writing style and always incorporates very likable characters who achieve some sort of epiphany while en route. The only problem is that her journeys can get quite boring, and I felt like both books needed to end sooner than they did.

  • Funniest Funeral I've Ever Been Too

A group of women are surprized to recieve a pair of red tennis shoes and a friend's ashes along with instructions for which became a traveling funeral. Travel with the women coast to coast as they travel miles and toward resolution of their grief for a lost, beloved friend. Be with them as they shed ashes and memories of this wonderful friend who came to mean so much to each person. They visit special places of Annie's and find out much about themselves on the way. Except for a lot of drinking and a few curse words the novel was fantastic.

  • Friends Rule

Anyone can identify with the women described in the book and get a kick out of the trip they take in memory of their mutual friend. Kris Radish has a knack for portraying her characters vividly.
