Not recommended for younger children...
My son brought this book home from the school library. I found the story predictable, but nicely written. My son lost interest in the story almost immediately. He is in kindergarten, but reads at a 2nd grade level and loves most books. This book brings up issues that, because of his age, he is not familiar; the most disturbing was the discussion about Jews and concentration camps. This story may be better suited for older children. I don't think 6 is the right age to learn about concentration camps and the Holucost. I found parts of the story to be more depressing, rather than uplifiting. I think children can come away with the same Christmas message through other Christian books, such as those by Max Lucado.My son brought this book home from the school library.
