About this product

Product Information

The land I love was lost to me forever. These stories are my memories.... Huynh Quang Nhuong grew up in the highlands if Vietnam, next to the jungle teeming with wildlife. Encounters with tigers, wild hogs, and deadly snakes were as much a part of his life as tending the rice fields while on the back of his pet water buffalo, Tank. Here are fifteen tale that will transport you into a world of lush beauty and terrible danger - and a way of life that is gone forever.

  • A great historical adventure!

I borrowed this book from the library to read with my 8 year old son. I had just returned from Vietnam and was curious of the country's history. My son and I loved this book! We were anxious to read it together every night and he would beg to read another chapter. I wanted him to have his own copy as a memory of our reading together as well as a memory of my trip. I knew I would want to share it with his little sisters someday. It was very good, a new adventure in each chapter and a glimpse at life in another culture. We also loved the follow up to this book-Water Buffalo Days.

  • why i love this book
