Let Me Hear Your Voice was the second book on autism I read when my son was first diagnosed at age 15 mos. Walking along side Catherine Maurice, as I read through her journey, provided a great source of encouragement and hope in the journey with my own child. The realism of the difficulties encountered in autism, yet the clear treatability of the disorder brought me much comfort. I do feel there were portions of the book that were a little more theatrical than I would expect to find in most lives, yet I also know that many interesting personalities live in the homes that shelter those with autism, so I can't rule that out in total honesty! Just a little flowery for me at times! I now own an autism center and all in all, this book has been a great resource for families seeking comfort and ... Hopeful read
I really enjoyed this book. It’s inspiring, but also honest. It doesn’t offer any miracle cures, but gives a glimpse of what one family was able to achieve.

I began to hear about autism from my sister as she was reading about it and became interested when I heard about a method of behavior modification that was helping people diagnosed with autism to become fully functioning in schools, family, society, etc. This method, pioneered by Dr. Ivan Lovaas, was basically bringing these people "out of their autism." I was intrigued more when I learned my brother-in-law was soon going to be working with a company employing this method. This book is about a family who learns their child has autism. The mother documents all her feelings, thoughts, and emotions through her ordeal, from the hellishness to the joys of such a life event. She writes beautifully and intelligently, appealing to the highly educated and layperson. I learned a lot about autism and ...
