About this product

Product Information

The lack of personal accountability is a problem that has resulted in an epidemic of blame, victim thinking, complaining, and procrastination. No organization--or individual--can successfully compete in the marketplace, achieve goals and objectives, provide outstanding service, engage in exceptional teamwork, or develop people without personal accountability. John G. Miller believes that the troubles that plague organizations cannot be solved by pointing fingers and blaming others. Rather, the real solutions are found when each of us recognizes the power of personal accountability. In QBQ The Question Behind the Question (R) , Miller explains how negative, ill-focused questions like "Why do we have to go through all this change?" and "Who dropped the ball?" represent a lack of personal accountability. Conversely, when we ask better questions--QBQs--such as "What can I do to contribute?" or "How can I help solve the problem?" our lives and our organizations are transformed. THE QBQ PROMISE This remarkable and timely book provides a practical method for putting personal accountability into daily actions, with astonishing results: problems are solved, internal barriers come down, service improves, teams thrive, and people adapt to change more quickly. QBQ is an invaluable resource for anyone seeking to learn, grow, and change. Using this tool, each of us can add tremendous worth to our organizations and to our lives by eliminating blame, victim-thinking, and procrastination. QBQ was written more than a decade ago and has helped countless readers practice personal accountability at work and at home. This version features a new foreword, revisions and new material throughout, and a section of FAQs that the author has received over the years.

    Great for work and life.

This book is fantastic! I heard the audio book and liked it so much, I bought hard copies for myself and my entire team. But it doesn't just apply to work; it applies to life in general. I so wish I'd had this when my kids were growing up so I could have made them read it!

  • Below expectations, but still worthwhile.

A read a quick review in the Fort Worth Star Telegram about this book and it hit a chord with me regarding my employment. Personal accountability seems to have gone by the wayside at many establishment, including the one I work at. Rather than accepting fault, most employees that I have contact with are more interested in rationalizing why it was ok to make a mistake, etc. The book seems to be an advertisement for the QBQ seminars which are offered. Rather than help teach personal accountability, the book focuses only on the reader and their own personal accountability. In fact, there is a chapter that talks about how this book isnt meant for others, just the readers. Certainly a good book for folks who have the self-awareness that they struggle with personal accountability, but no ...

  • QBQ ny John Miller

On the recommendation of Dave Ramsey, who has all his employees read this book, I bought it for one of our employees. Of course, I read it first. While rather simplistic, the book makes an excellent point. Take total responsibility for your own actions, and behaviors. Don't whine and complain, instead make things happen. A good read, and a fast read. I would recommend it.

  • Easy read. Good info

Nothing earth shattering, but it’s an easy read and a good reminder of holding yourself accountable for challenges you are facing.
