Radio Shack/Duophone Caller ID Speaker Telephone Model 43-165
Pre-owned, vintage Radio Shack/Duophone Caller Id, Speaker Phone performs acceptably. The plastic cover for the 16-number Memory Dialer is missing, so the paper names list falls off if the phone is lifted. An undesirable feature of this phone is the dial type=tone/pulse, ringer type and ringer=off switch are all located in the bottom of the phone, inside of the battery compartment, which is covered by a snap-out plastic door. Contemporary designs place these features outside of the phone on either the back or side. Even though Radio Shack Support was able to provide a PDF Owner's Manual, parts for vintage phones are not available. "Three Stars" are justified due to the design of this phone; dialing and call quality, notwithstanding.Pre-owned, vintage Radio Shack/Duophone Caller Id, Speaker Phone performs acceptably. But unfortunately, we couldn't take advantage of its telephone number storage feature because the set-up instructions were in a language we don't read or speak (Spanish). As as result, we can't store our medical emergency numbers for auto-dial. This review would have been unqualifiedly positive if the phone had come with set-up instructions in English. The seller's staff person who we called about an operating issue was very patient and responsive.Well designed; well built; comfortable; good sound. Good telephone for we Great Grandparents
With 16 visible quick dial numbers and a speaker phone, this replacement telephone is not found anywhere else because it is so good, and many folks don't have house telephones any longer. We old folks need a house telephone without a lot of bells and whistles to do our simple tasks yet have the security of knowing how to use it in a moment of depleted memory.
