About this product

Product Information

Anyone interested in recording music at home will benefit from Roger McGuinn's expert advice. Having recorded a Grammy Award-winning album on his very own laptop, McGuinn knows all there is to know about multi-track home recording techniques. With today's computers growing faster every day, musicians have a whole new world of opportunity when it comes to laying down their own music. McGuinn covers topics such as how to lay down basic tracks, how to overdub vocal and guitar sections, and exporting a two-track master. McGuinn demonstrates these steps and more by taking his audience through the creation of his song "May the Road Rise," from start to finish. Viewers will also get ideas about how to set up their own mini-studios by seeing McGuinn at work.

  • A Great Way to start learning computer recording basics

I used to do some studio work, but have more experience and expertise in live sound. I have not done any recording in some time, and have never recorded using digital recorders or computers. While I have been able to figure out soem basic things myself, this DVD gave me a pretty good crash course to help get me going quite a bit better. It gave some good tips on how to make your recordings sound better and how to clean up some of your tracks once you are finished recording them for your cleanest possible overall sound. It still leaves you with alot of questions on more complicated or advanced tools and techniques, but it is definitely worth getting if you have never used your computer for recording before, or even if you have it will give you some great tips that you may not already know ...

  • Lacks Educational Specifics

I purchased this DVD tutorial with hopes that it would provide step-by-step instruction in learning how to use the said recording software. However, there are very few screen close-ups or verbally-explained details that provide the viewer with adequate knowledge that is required in order to truly understand Roger McGuinn's recording process. Basically, you watch this DVD and grab quick pointers or guidelines. But if you want a tutorial that provides you with the tools and details you TRULY need in order to enable you to use Cool Edit Pro or Adobe Audition to a level of true satisfaction, this is NOT it. Truth be told, I was disappointed. I had to order the DVD sset called Total Training For Adobe Audition 1.5, which is FAR better!!! I love your music, Roger, but the DVD Training-aspect ...

  • Home Recording On A Computer

I think this is a good DVD for someone looking into recording via their computer. It's pretty basic, and I guess has to be for a DVD that is only about 45 minutes long. It includes a booklet which is helpful in determining what equipment is needed. All in all, I would say it's definitely worth the money I paid for it, which I believe is around fifteen dollars. I would recommend it.

  • Good start for beginner recordist,. Roger forever!!!

s a companion to "The 12 String Guitar of Roger Mcguinn" I wanted to play just like that even before I heard him. Yours With Heavy Sounds, The Infamous DrThousand
