Educational and Entertaining DVD
David Holt presents various ways to play folk rhythms on ordinary household items and body parts, such as: the spoons, washboard, bones, hambone, & paper bag. David is very entertaining and educational in his presentations. I bought this DVD for my 8 year old son, who was already playing some washboard. My son was soon playing the spoons, paper bag & hambone, and had increased his playing on the washboard. I especially enjoyed the section where David played old-time rhythms on his body with drum triggers sewn in his suit; this produced modern drum sounds with old-time rhythms. Great old timey music instruction!
I play old time- roots type music on the harmonica and decided that I would like to add some rythm with washboard, spoons, bones, or something similiar in keeping with the old time sound. David Holt does a great job teaching the basics and getting you started on these old time rythm instruments. This video is exactely right on. Very helpful
Just curious and wanted to have some fun. Family does a lot of cajun cooking and listens to Zydeco. It really is pretty easy to pick up and have fun with. The quality of the video is a lot better than I thought it would be. Would be great for children.
