Not perfect, but it does work well with the proper conditions.
They do a good job of holding the rug if the conditions are appropriate (rug and carpet aren't too thick) and one gets the pins inserted appropriately, which is not always very easy. I broke one of the clear plastic tops while inserting the pin and I broke another plastic top later when stepping on it after it had been inserted. This is probably the best solution for securing a rug over a carpet, but it is not a perfect solution and it may require some trial and error to do it right. The thinner the carpet and rug the better. Didn't work for me...
Even though it said 1" depth of use, and my carpets were within that, I could not get it to work, and yes, I followed the directions on how to insert and push in the correct direction. I almost could not get the prongs through the top rug, a plastic piece fell off, but they just won't stay in place. They come out as soon as there is any movement on the carpet.

Wow! Just WOW!
I have a huge rug that I purchased to sit over my carpet and under my bed. It was perfection... until it started to creep toward the center under the weight of the bed. I tried EVERYTHING and was just about to remove the rug and donate it reluctantly when I came upon these amazing little devices... Rug Settlers. I ordered a couple of boxes and was very pleased with not only how quickly I receive them but the great quality of these little Lifesavers. I removed the bed in order to allow the rug to reset all over the carpet and allow some of the buckling to even out. The following day I vacuumed and began the process of securing down the edges using these little pins. I was stoked to see that the rug was taught all the way around and the rug settlers or hardly visible. All the furniture was ...
