  • Great Book! Easy to Read and can benefit all LEVELS

Absolutely NOTHING to dislike about this book. This excellent book has plenty of EASY TO READ and EASIER to UNDERSTAND information on Jiu Jitsu history, applications of Jiu Jitsu, and of course Jiu Jitsu Techniques Organized by BELT LEVEL ( yellow, blue, black, etc) with STEP-BY-STEP instructions. This is a GREAT book for both beginners and even those that have mastered Jiu Jitsu. In my opinion, this simply ADDS to the Self Defense Library that any fighter would desire to have easy access to as a reminder of forgotten tactics or for extending the learning of a new beginner. A MUST HAVE!!!

  • This is a must have!

I rarely find books as helpful as videos but this book is the exception!! This book is an absolute awesome resource for anyone interested in martial arts. The explanations are awesome and the book is very well laid out and well done. I have been in martial arts for over 20 years and realized I had good stand up but was completely lacking once it went to the ground. This book is a great way to learn more about the ground game. It does demonstrate a lot of techniques specific to BJJ (many techniques use the gi) but many can be adapted to no-gi or a real life situation. This is an absolute must have for those interested in the martial arts!!!!

  • Great manual all around

I would say I am a beginner in Jeet Kune Do, and we work BJJ once a week in class. It is really hard to figure out moves when you are just starting out in BJ, especially when they have us spar. I get stuck in some situation and I have no idea what my options are. My brother recommended this book to me as a supplement to my training. I have some other BJJ books on my shelf, but they are more complicated. I found this book to have very good pictures, and clear descriptions. I noticed I am doing some of the blue belt stuff already. I was glad to see an alternative way to do an arm bar mounting someone. I may try that in class. It was also interesting to read the history of BJJ as well.

  • Filled with information from the family who started it all, “ The Gracie Family”
