Academy Awards: Best Screenplay.LOVER COME BACK: Both a screwball comedy and a satire of the advertising business, Delbert Mann's LOVER COME BACK was the second panel in the Hudson-Day comic triptych. Advertising account executive Carol Templeton (Doris Day) is infuriated by the ease and sleaze with which Jerry Webster (Rock Hudson), her rival at another ad outfit, attracts big accounts to his firm by plying the clients with demon rum and long-legged chorus girls. When she reports him to the Ad Council, he sends buxom Rebel Davis (Edie Adams) to charm the (all-male) council into a state of blissful inertia. To thank Rebel Davis for her work, Jerry shoots a number of commercials with her for a fictional product called VIP, not intending to use them. But when his perennially bewildered boss Peter Ramsey (Tony Randall) mistakenly airs the commercials, Jerry is forced to come up with a real product. Carol gets wind of this novelty and, determined to land the account, looks up Linus Tyler (Jack Kruschen), the scientist Jerry hired to create VIP. Always a step ahead of the game, Jerry disguises himself as Tyler to acquaint himself with his attractive competitor. Despite the 1950s stereotypes that colored most gender comedies of the period, the deftness and wit of Hudson, Day, and Randall make this film a genuinely amusing farce.SEND ME NO FLOWERS: Hudson is a sweet husband, a respectable businessman, and a hopeless hypochondriac. Well worth the money.
The first two titles are the best. "Lover Came Back" is one of the best comedies ever made. "Pillow Talk" was also clever, but not as sidesplittingly funny as "Lover Come Back." "Send Me No Flowers" was pretty weak.

Wonderful funny movies,Great Actors,Great Story lines
What i liked was the story lines in all the movies and the way the actors and actresses made their characters they were playing believable. what i loved was the funny scenes, like rock hudson trying to get doris remarried and thinking he was sick and how he got stuck outside the house in the wheel chair and how in other movie he couldn't fit in the tiny car and how he had doris decorate his apartment and how to his shock what it looked like and he went and got her out of her bed and carried her to his apartment. how thelma ritter acted as house keeper and had to hang on to stand up in the elavtor and how she listened in on the phone. i really can't think of anything i didn't like about the movie because it wasn't intended for people to approve of drinking or smoking, it was intended to be ... Rock hudson is gone and can't make anymore good films and Doris day isn't able to make any more films.Enjoy what they made is why i purchased the collection.Tony Randalls face changing color in the movie with the made up vip product. ann b. davis the secretary, she is always wonderful. too many wonderful scenes and moments to write down, it was all wonderful and funny and nothing else like it now days. can't beat these classics, the movies now alot of them aren't worth the price to rent or the price to go see them at the movie house. one movie this year was worth having in my home, the rest need a bar of soap and wash cloth.

Funny situations, funny dialogue, clean humor, with a little "naughtiness" or risque element, a snapshot of America trembling on the brink of sexual liberation where there would be no more wink, wink, or nudge nudge because it was all out there. He tries to trick here into bed, the trick being necessary because she is a "nice" girl. Whether that was better or worse than our current situation, I can't say (yes, I know he was gay). I can say the movies are very funny. The two had fantastic chemistry. What a handsome man he was (yes, I know he was gay). In Send me no flowers, they are a married couple with a hypochondriac Rock Hudson who imagines he is dying. He is so tall and strapping you wouldn't think it would work, but it does. The contrast between his glowing physicality and his fears and tremors make it all the more funny. Tony Randall is also present in all three. In the first two, he plays the neurotic bachelor who frequently refers to his therapist and of course loses Doris Day to the more masculine man (yes, I know Rock was gay). In the last one, he is the grieving best friend. Randall was the perfect chronicler of late fifties early sixties urban angst and also very funny. The only downside is that they only made three movies. Doris Day is great too.
