    Excellent Soul Food

    I purchased this book since, again, a favorite book was lifted. This book has great recipies and easy to follow directions. I love the little stories behind each recipie. The book purchsed from this seller was in excellent condition. This book is great for everyone looking to prepare true soul food dishes (especially the ones we grew up with ... i.e. souse, collard greens, even neck bones...haha) This book is also a great asset for non-cooks like me, i made a sweet potatoe pie from this book and got lots of compliments. woo hoo..this is the holy grail in my kitchen.

    Good content

    The book itself has GREAT recipes, however, the minute I opened the package, all the plastic binding comb fell apart and the pages went everywhere. I had to purchase another from an office supply store and put the whole thing back together.

    A Cookbook With a Story

    I LOVE cookbooks with a story. This cookbook takes you right into a southern families kitchen...you can almost smell and taste the dish your reading about. Do try the Heritage recipes!! The Famous Chicken and Dumplings were delicious!! and the Sweet Potato Nut bread... I even brought Crisco shortening and oil back into my kitchen!!! I have shared this book as a gift. 💕

    An Educational Historic Afro Centric Cookbook

    This is my second copy and I really enjoy trying the recipes cooked in the traditional historic way of African American People. I love looking up items to cook that I don't know how so that I can achieve that authentic taste. I bought this book as a gift for my daughter-in-law who wanted that historical context in cooking.
