  • A good game

I used to play Silent Hunter many years ago and was so happy when a Pacific theater version was released. SO much that I bought it even though my computer would not run it. I have since upgraded my computer. I love the graphics in the game. It is especially cool to see the torpedoes hit and the ship explode. It will take some time to learn the game. The manual isn't that helpful. One hassle, for example, is getting to the patrol zone quickly. You leave port and put it in excellerated time mode and it pops back to 1x every 5 minutes for an airplane or ship spotted. I'd love to bypass all that and jump to the patrol zone. Myabe there is an option to do that, but I haven't found it.

  • silent hunter 4 - bargain game entry

the U.S. or regular version of the new SH4 submarine game for PC's is still pretty expensive, from 40 to 50 dollars on average. some foreign versions are available for very much less, like this one, from this particular seller. I got it to start game-play, with intention of getting the U.S. version later on. it is worth it. BUT, know what you are getting. the game sets up OK, and does run fine, on basic or better PC requirements for all versions of the game. but, this is the Russian version of SH4, with option to setup and run in english. it is version 1.0, the first one. it does NOT patch to versions 1.01 to 1.03, (the three patch updates put out by the game maker, ubisoft). and there are alot of basic bugs to the first version. for best results, the patches are best for long run game ...

  • Rated excellent

The graphics where 9.5 out of 10 story line 10/10 gameplay 9.8/10 overall 9.7/10 At first the control's looked very difficult and different, but after about 20-30 min I was out at see and 1 hour later attacking a convoy, eventually turning the control system into a surprisingly interesting and educational experience, I could have never imagined so don't judge a book by its cover!. later on as I played further, I found out that allot of people not only play this but are very active online, they have allot of interesting input all over the internet about this game. towards the end my laptop went out because of a screen defect but I cant wait for it to get fixed so I can continue from where I left off.

  • Pretty good game

It is a pretty technical simulation, the last sub game that I played was on a Commodore 64 so that's been a while. The graphics are very exceptional. It takes forever to get from one place to another which I'm sure is for the realism but in my old sub games you would see time progress a lot faster and it would get you into the fight with ships faster. I haven't had the "spine chilling" moments like I got with my old C64 game but that could be because I played it 15 years ago but I would say if you are into sub games this is showing what a hyped up pc system can do. I recommend doing the update to 1.4 it cut out a lot of the bugs and seems to work with Vista pretty well.
