Almost perfect
Generic paper rolls work fine, at least those that we bought do. We use Endicia and the 1050 works fine for printing 4x6 labels with a few minor limitations and it has to be set up using a print profile that is for the Dymo, as one doesn't exist for this printer. We say almost perfect because Brother is not the best for support...but their machines are good. The printer itself was purchased used. Seems to be pretty well made, easy to load, prints quickly, print quality good. If it breaks down due to it being used, we'll buy another, new printer to get the warranty.Generic paper rolls work fine, at least those that we bought do. Good value but not without shortcomings
This printer (QL-1050) is able to print the 4x6 labels that is used for USPS, UPS or FedEx. The previous reviewer may have some setup issue. I bought this one because I needed a thermal printer with 300dpi resolution for best result. The shipping service I use gives me labels in raster image PDF format at 300dpi, and the 203dpi Zebra desktop printer just doesn't reproduce it very well. The up side: 1) The print quality is good, although I had to try different image processing settings to get the best reproduction. 2) I like the built-in auto cutter. It makes the label printing job more relaxed than having to yank each label against the blade on a Zebra desktop or a Dymo XL. It also makes printing on continuous label paper possible. 3) Built-in power supply. Compact design that doesn't ... The downside: 1)The max printing width is slightly less than 4" - only 3.9" base on the factory spec, which means the you'll have to shrink the image that is exactly 4" wide, or the edge of the image will not be printed. 2) There is a minimum 0.12" margin on top and bottom of the printout, which means you have to shrink the image that is exactly 6" tall or set the paper to 6.24" tall (with continuous paper), otherwise the top and bottom of the image will not be printed. 3) The industrial design looks 1990-ish. 4) The label paper is slightly more expensive due to optical markings on the backing paper and use of plastic spool (needed for label size identification).

Great item - but doesn't print postage :(
Easy to set up machine and software. Comes with a roll of 4x6 labels and 2.4" continuous label tape. Wasn't able to use it for my needs - wanted a printer for my Pitney Bowes Postage Pro software. This printer ONLY prints labels. Sadness!!

Great printer, great value
This unit works well for me. It has been replaced by a newer version, The QL-1100, but it works perfectly for my purposes which is to print shipping labels. Both use the same labels so you can get supplies without a problem

Not easy to set up on Windows 10 and Surface Pro
Surface Pro's don't have CD ports and it takes a CD to install it. It costs to download what I need to download from the internet.
