Murder One. A Must See!!!!!
An excellent show with intelligent writing, as well as extremely interesting characters. As with most great shows, it only lasted two seasons on t.v., but I never get tired of watching it on DVD. Season One is better than Season Two, as the main character, Teddy Hoffman (played with subtlety, yet who is a presence to be reckoned with, by Daniel Benzali), left the show and Anthony LaPaglia subs in. While LaPaglia is good in his own way, the loss of Benzali in the second season is a gaping void. In addition to the main story of who killed Jessica Costello in Season One, all the side stories are also very well written. One in particular about a neighbor's barking dog is hilarious, while others are frighteningly real. As a legal assistant, I was able to discern what is real law and what ... It is a factory defect, NOT the seller's fault in the least, as my disks were new and came sealed. The disk is choppy in many parts, starting then freezing, with little boxes on the screen. It will go a couple of frames with no problem, then freeze, then start again, then freeze. I can't imagine I'm the only one with this defect, so make sure to check your disks, especially the first one for this problem. Other than that, enjoy the show. It is truly the granddaddy of the crime show genre.

This is the kind of stuff that good TV is made of! Daniel Benzali is an extremely talented actor. In my opinion, he WAS Murder One. He set the tone for the show and made it the hit that it was. It is a shame that it did not have more than a 2 season run. Murder One is what a mystery/suspense show should be. It has the feel of L.A. Law and the grit of NYPD Blue;sexy and exciting without all the bullsh*t dribble that is now staring us in the face these days. I highly recommend this series. Anthony LaPaglia is great in season 2 and I love his acting as well, but Daniel Benzali breathed life into it - gave it that edgy feeling. I am purchasing seasons one and two as a gift to myself! If I could wrap up Daniel Benzali and stuff him under my tree I would! He's a doll!!! Buy this series - you ... This is the kind of stuff that good TV is made of!
