About this product

Product Information

Heath Ledger stars as Alex Bernier, a young priest and protegee of the excommunicated head of a mysterious order known as the Carolingians, who has recently died under mysterious circumstances. Alex is sent by Father Driscoll to Rome to investigate the death; once there, he uncovers evidence pointing to the existence of a mysterious being known as a sin-eater, a being that exists outside the jurisdiction of the church and performs "last rites" on people who have been exiled by the Church. But as Bernier, aided by his old friend Father Thomas (Mark Addy) and an artist upon whom he once performed an exorcism (Shannyn Sossamon), gets closer to the sin-eater, he is besieged by doubt as to what it really is; human or beast, evil creature that preys upon humans or renegade angel who provides fallen sinners a last chance to make it into heaven.

    Sin Eater

    Keep in mind that sin will take you further than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay. For those who delve into spiritual heights and depths this one takes you to a new plateu. Ledger in attempt to deal with his devils becomes one. He learns and loves with such abandon that it becomes his entire existence. He is betrayed by the Master who loved him and is betrayed in the end by his own love for another. You are taken into the vortex of a tangled plot to hope for redemption and purity. This wasn't one of your happily-ever after stories, but it will challenge you think about the cost of sin. As well it can be cause to consider to what length you would go for love.

    This is a very odd movie, it shows Heath Ledger as a priest and some of the stuff he has to go through after a friend and associate has passed away. Most of the movies takes place in Rome (i believe) and the scenes are great and the action protrayed is great. Great movie for those interested in collecting movies with Heath Ledger. Great for any collection and with parental guidance good for children.
