Excellent study tool!
My children really love these books. The drawing references stimulates their minds and can conform to any curriculum learning based upon the subject matter (which books you buy). The confidence my seven-year-old and now my four-year-old have in their drawing abilities is phenomenal. Simple, easy to use with instructions and so much fun, too. They have taken the drawing lessons and formulated it into their own creativity each and every day. I cannot buy enough paper for them to draw on! These have been one of my favorite teaching tools. They always look forward to it! Note: Do not show them the books before the lesson or you'll be forced to start right away. lolMy children really love these books. Positively FUN! Educational, too!!
I was setting up our home school curriculum for the fall semester & Timberdoodle's catalog had raves on this item. Well, I took their word for it. My son, after 2 days of school said, "School is boring, Mom." so out I took the Draw Write Now! book 1 & workbook (just a wkbk with one page lines, the other a frame) and showed him the copy work & drawing he could do. After his first "lesson" he was so hooked, our 11 year old daughter jumped in as soon as she was done with her school & they drew for the rest of the afternoon! We use "the special" pencils (Prismacolors) so I think that makes it even more exceptional. You should see the drawings that are flowing from this bubble-people-drawing boy!!! He's making such beautiful artwork & our 11 year old daughter is excelling in her animal art ... Fantastic replacement for copy work, especially for boys who don't like to write (or girls for that matter!). What I really love is that each lesson comes with a trivia question for the kids, the answer's later on in the book with refrences to great reading materials, too! Great asset, so glad I followed Timberdoodle's advice! Oh, and this mad rush to complete the next lesson is still going strong, after 2 1/2 weeks! The book's going to be done too quick! (although there are a ton of lessons & ideas!) They love it & have referred it to THEIR friends! Wow, huh? You won't be dissappointed, especially you mothers/fathers who have no art-skills, this is it!

Drawing and handwriting book
I chose to buy this book after my 7yr old daughter requested to learn how to draw better. I searched and found a homeschool forum where someone suggested it. This book integrated science or social studied along with art.(depends on which of the 8 books you order). It also helps with handwriting and creative writing by providing info about the subject to copy and/or the child may then write their own story after or before they draw a picture. The step-by-step drawings are easy to follow and have helped her to draw something she has never known how to draw before and is encouraged and looking forward to learning more. The author has also provided a page listing informative books to help learn a little about the subject being drawn. This book also gives samples of plants,trees, hills, and ...
