    Heavy drama dealing with difficult family issues

    The main focus was on the interaction between the father, Robert Duvall, and his son, Robert Downey, Jr. These excellent actors were riveting as they showed us a picture a family struggling with death, illness, conflict, etc. Robert Downey Jr. brings the right amount of sarcasm, humor and pathos to the role of the son - a fascinating character study. Highly recommend it for the acting, both of the 2 main characters and the supporting cast, and for a well-told story.

    Solid performances by Hollywood stars. 4.5 Stars worth a viewing for sure!

    Plot: Big city lawyer Hank Palmer returns to his childhood home where his father, the town's judge, is suspected of murder. Hank sets out to discover the truth and, along the way, reconnects with his estranged family. A solid performace by both Downey and Duvall. I have to hand it to Duvall, he is willing to play the hard parts as he gets older. Not pretty to look at anymore, he does not shy away from the camera. A solid 4.5 stars from me.     great movie, i could watch it again and again.

    I thourghly enjoyed this movie . I would definitely recommend this movie to my friends. The movie had good actors, and a real story line that was down to earth. Anyone who ever was in a position to take care of an elderly parent, can certainly appreciate this movie. I will be watching this movie again, as it has been added to my collection of favorite movies. It was a tear jerker, and very true to life. It had an excellent story line that many people could relate to. It really makes you stop and think about how hard it can be at times when a loved one gets older.

    The Judge is judged

    Very good dramatic storyline. Several layers to this familial drama with strong characters and interesting twists but easy to follow. Excellently played. Again, performances by Downey & Duvall are top-notch.

    Not a chick flick but if you don’t cry on this movie your not alive.

    Can’t say much more. Must see. Permanent dvd in my collection! The guidelines say to be specific but too much will be a spoiler. Enjoy!
