About this product

Product Information

From the company's 15 series, this Martin D-15M acoustic guitar has a sound that is warm, soulful, and rich. One reason for these characteristics is the material and construction of this classic instrument. Its top, sides, back, and neck are all made of solid, genuine mahogany, which is dense and free of air pockets and deformities. This creates a strong yet subtle tone with each strum or pluck of the strings. The tone and the projection of sound on this acoustic guitar are powerful and rich. The Martin's neck construction adds to the sound as well. The fingerboard and the headplate of the guitar are East Indian rosewood. There are 14 open frets with 20 frets total. The joint is constructed with the mortise-and-tenon technique, which is considered the premier method for wood binding. It binds two pieces of wood into one solid, sturdy unit and is used frequently in shipbuilding. The shape is a modified low oval. The guitar's nut material is bone, and the scale length is 25.4 inches. It has a belly bridge. Diamonds and squares are inlaid on the fingerboard for positioning. The frets at the nut are 1 11/16 inches wide, and at the bridge, the string spacing is 2 1/8 inches. The radius is 16 inches, which allows comfortable fingering. Other features of this mahogany Martin guitar include a single-ring rosette; the nut material here is bone as well. The top bracing pattern of the guitar is an A-frame “X” top, and the top brace is solid Sitka spruce. The tuning machines are nickel. Recommended strings for this Martin guitar are medium-gauge Martin Studio Performance Phosphorus Bronze. The dreadnought style is used around the world as the model for acoustic guitars. It has a reddish-brown chocolate color with a satin finish and a vintage or historic look. This is not a fancy or flashy series of guitar, but many covet the Martin for exactly that reason. When you want clear sounds along with a classic look, a Martin guitar is a great choice. The Martin brand has made continual style and performance enhancements, and that is quite clear with this guitar model. If you're an aspiring performer, you'll appreciate the Martin dreadnought acoustic guitar for its mahogany construction and slotted headstock. The guitar's tone is great for singer and songwriters as well because it blends so well with vocalizing. This guitar is part of a series is built using quality materials that are designed to last. The beautiful wood grain makes this instrument stand out, but its playability is what takes it to a higher, more appreciated level. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced guitar player, you'll love the full bass, even notes, and true sound that make this attractive Martin guitar worthwhile. You can easily play a series of songs on this guitar for hours on end thanks to the satin finish and comfortable style. From the 15 series, the Martin D-15M is great for players of all styles and abilities. Whether you’re getting ready to go out on the road with your band or you just want an instrument that can become a family heirloom, this Martin guitar can become like a friend.

Dishonorable Seller (angelgrace18) But a great Guitar, At least the one I picked up at Guitar Center on Sale for $1,200.00

This guitar feels just right on my lap (Very light) and sounds bright, crisp and soft with just the right amount of deep musical tone required. And being that it is a solid wood guitar, I looking forward to it maturing like a fine bottle of wine. I also love the smell of the mahogany; like an old church grand piano, the smell of aged elegance and prestige, an instrument worthy of ultimate respect. I’m intimidated at times to pick it up and play it, till I remember; Oh Yea, it mine; I can do what ever I want with it. and then wondering after playing it a while; where did the time go. The guitar sound so good that it make me sound like a much better guitar player then I really am. The guitar comes with a hard case that’s a prefect fit. If your looking for something glamorous this one is not ...

ok condition, not great. lots of body marks and fret board wear also

serious fret ware. after cleaning and setting up for a passive under saddle pickup, the guitar will be evaluated for re-dress or re-fret work.

  • A Closet Queen Comes Out Shining

I enjoy purchasing and restoring "distressed" instruments, especially guitars. I was attracted to this Martin (1) because of the famous name; (2) because it was advertised as being in damaged "BEATER" condition and sold at a relatively low price; (3) because I like the tone of a mahogany guitar. I have a comparable Guild D-125, newer and in better shape. I like them both but the Martin sounds a little bit "sweeter"- I can't describe the difference more clearly- its action is a bit easier, possibly because it's a mature instrument: about eight years old. It obviously had a rough life; I've repaired much worse. It arrived dusty but an initial cleanup with furniture polish did wonders. I will have to cleat some expansion cracks in face and back, strip and refinish -with its traditional ...

  • perfect sound and great looks

This is a perfect guitar. Great details and just enough "bling" to add a small wow factor. It sounds super, plenty of tone and big sound. I have an real D'Angelico made in the 40's, which is suppose to be the "best". However, this Martin (although a different sound) is almost more fun to play. Been an archtop fan because I like the look, however, the Martin made me enjoy the "flat top" guitar. Great choice. Al

  • Huge, HUGE Guitar!...

Kind of a rare model (mine is the D-15S), this Martin has all-mahogany construction, a 12-fret neck, and slotted headstock. It has an oversized dreadnought body that is about the size of a small rowboat, but still pretty comfortable to hold and play. As you can imagine, the sound is really big, too. The action is low but not too low, and there is something in the set-up that makes you want to play cleanly and with your best technique. The reward is in the sound. Did I say it sounded big? Seriously, I have heard the term "piano-like" applied to guitars for years, but this thing is what I think they mean. Huge, punchy attack, well-balanced tone, I have never heard a straight acoustic guitar sustain like this baby does! Strum as hard as you like, you cannot "squash" the tone down. It just ...
