    Singer 6199

    I read the book that came with the machine. Everything is well explained except the button hole 1 step but was able to do this after trying it out. I would not use this machine for heavy duty denim because the stitch can be thrown off unless your comfortable resetting the timing It has a mechanism that protects the needle to keep it from breaking and bending but I broke my needle while trying to fix a pair of jeans I love the embroidery patterns that I used on garment necklines. I use all of my clothes that I make. Just every day wash and wear and I believe this machine will be perfect for making every day tops and slacks I feel inspired to try making a quilt using this machine I really love the machine.

    Great machine!

    The machine looks and feels very sturdy. It's not heavy though, which is nice. It's easy to pick up and move around but doesn't slide around when you're sewing. I was able to start sewing without reading the manual. If you know how to use a sewing machine, everything is pretty intuitive. This machine almost sews for you. It is so easy. The automatic reverse stitch is amazing. It comes with several accessories. I love the extension table. The only complaints I could make is that it's a tad noisy (but no louder than any other machine) and the display for the numbers isn't backlit. It's not a huge deal but it would be a nicety. Overall...I love it!

    Surprisingly good quality

    My first Singer. It arrived, got it unpacked, threaded the bobbin, scanned the booklet and was sewing within 15 minutes. It's easy to use, and the features enable lots of different sew projects. I bought it to make quilts and I understand I will need to buy a particular presser foot for the free movement stitches I intend to make. It came with two general presser foots (feet?) I haven't tried out all the stitches yet or sewn several layers yet, but according to reviews and utube videos I checked out, it appears this machine can accommodate what I need it to do. Research is good before you buy.

    Brilliance sewing machine

    I received the machine and after getting it set up and ready to try out,I turned it on and no light under the stitch numbers! I went ahead with a flashlight to show the numbers and it worked really well! A little noisey! I'm hoping to send it back and get another! I really got a lot for my money! Sure hope the new one has a light! Has a lot of stitches and runs well! I really like it! About the flashlight,I meant it worked well showing me the stitch numbers! I'd rather have a light though!

    Great machine

    Singer has put a great effort into the sale of the Singer 6199 Brilliance sewing machine, When I received it I was very impressed, because it was like getting a brand new sewing machine, it was perfectly clean, all the accessories were sealed in individual plastic bags, what a great effort by Singer. I have used this machine and have not had a single problem, Singer provided all the manuals and fast start manual to make using this machine effortless. Thank you.
