About this product

Product Information

Director William Wyler went to Paris to shoot this frothy caper comedy. Nicole Bonnet (Audrey Hepburn) lives with her father, Charles (Hugh Griffith). He keeps them in luxury by selling an occasional painting--maybe a Renoir, maybe a van Gogh. A well-known art connoisseur, he has an endless supply of paintings; he paints them himself--like his father before him, he is an expert forger. Persuaded to loan a Cellini sculpture--actually created by his father--for an exhibition, Charles is horrified when the museum decides to insure the sculpture and sends for an expert to authenticate it. Afraid the Bonnets will be exposed, Nicole decides to help. After thwarting an apparent robbery, she becomes attracted to the intruder, Simon Dermott (Peter O'Toole). She contacts Simon again, with a proposition: She wants him to help her steal the Cellini--before it is inspected.Never for a moment taking itself seriously, this amusing concoction rests in the capable hands of its handsome and witty stars. They both deliver: Audrey is fetching and Peter is dashing. The robbery--an amusing take on the elaborate jewelry heists seen in Jules Dassin's RIFIFI and TOPKAPI--is as intricate and amusing as it is unlikely.

Beautiful scenery, attractive cars and witty dialogue give us a provocative tale to enjoy.

A flashy bit of fun, cons scamming cons w a bit of gamesmanship, and we are entertained. Set in Paris, Hugh Griffith and Audrey Hepburn are the latest generation of a family of con artists, con/cons, who prey upon those who collect high-end art. Peter O'Toole is a con/cop who is tracking the con/cons for a museum's security team. The museum is putting the con/cons art on display. Eli Wallach is a driven art collector who wants to collect both the art on display and Audrey Hepburn. The players are put in motion as they are all after the art work, and each other. We find them plotting to overcome the museum's security system to steal the art work, each for their own personal reasons. Add a bit of romance between Audrey, Peter and Eli, and we have an added driver to the scam. Who wins what ...

  • Favourite Audrey Hepburn movie

This is one of my favourite Audrey Hepburn movies. I remember watching it with my Grandmother when I was little. It brings back wonderful memories of laughing together over the humorous antics of the two main characters in this movie. The storyline is interesting and it's a fun family movie.

  • Wonderful!

Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole are amazing. Best movie for appreciating Givenchy clothing. The humor, rapport, and Paris scenery make it a wonderful way to spend time in front of the tv.

  • How to Steal A Million

I like older movies because I can watch with my grandchildren. This movie does not have any foul, four letter words and has beautiful, lavish scenery; a little risque' at times but not raw sex or raw humor. It is fun with its beautiful clothes and of course, Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Tool make it glamorous. I miss glamour in todays movies, I love fashionable clothes--not sloppy or semi-nude. This movie is done well---light, frothy romantic comedy.

  • Great movie!

Love this movie! Classic! Probably my favorite Audrey Hepburn movie. Plus, it was a great deal!
