Stands better on its own
This movie is based on a 60s television series, but is better if watched on its own merit. It has a fast moving pace, double meanings throughout the film, and can be watched several times to catch all the nuances. When compared to the original series there are a few discrepancies, so it is better watched as a separate movie. I enjoyed it, and loved my favorite 007 actor as the villain. The movie can be enjoyed on simple terms for its action/special effects, or on a deeper level for the dialog between the two leads. Ralph Fiennes is a bit dry for my taste, very British stiff upper lip. Uma Thurman played Emma Peel very well.
